Mid-April saw The Camber Castle’s inaugural Community Quiz Night. There hasn’t been a quiz night at The Castle for many a year so the excitement had been building! Teams of up to six people were invited to take part and, on the night, there were seven teams in total.

Quiz Master Extraordinaire was Gaz Jones, who also wrote the questions. Gaz kept the crowd entertained – and challenged – with his clever assortment of teasers and trick questions covering all sorts from General Knowledge to Sports to Film & Television.
A full page of celebrity pictures was placed on each table and, during the quiz, players had the chance to write down the names of the faces for some extra points. There was a special Music round where Gaz played a few seconds of a song intro and everyone had to work out what it was. Some of the samples were just a second or two long, so it kept everyone on their toes!

Gaz was ably assisted by Hayley who checked all the answer sheets and kept a tally of the scores. Tension built at the end when two teams had tied in third place.
Gaz asked a representative of each team to step up and asked a sudden death tie-breaker question. The losing team were visibly frustrated when their representative got it wrong but were comfortable with ending up in fourth place overall!
The evening was well supported with a great turn out of enthusiastic villagers. Congratulations go to the winning team – unfortunately, as this is a family-friendly publication, we cannot tell you the team’s name. Here’s a clue, though: It reflected the fact that they had imbibed an adequate amount of alcohol!

There was a fantastic air of community spirit all evening, with an energy of fun and laughter – and plenty of banter! It is wonderful when villagers get together to enjoy themselves and, in turn, show incredible support for one of our local pubs.
Everyone agreed that The Castle should do it again so, with luck, there will be another one coming soon.
