The sun is finally out, and on a dog walk this week, I spotted some extra action on Camber Sands!
The RNLI’s Technical Equipment Team has been down on the dunes, getting stuck in some serious hands-on training. These are the experts behind the scenes who keep the lifesavers’ kit – from the ATVs, (All-terrain vehicles), and rescue boards to those speedy inshore boats – in tip-top shape.

While they do some of their learning at the RNLI College in Poole, nothing beats the real deal. They chose Camber specifically to test their skills against our actual surf, tides, and sand, ensuring everything is 100% ready for the crowds.

The best news? This means the summer season is officially around the corner! RNLI lifeguard patrols are returning to keep us all safe on the waves:
- Camber Central: Starting 3 April to the 27 September.
- Camber Western: From 23 May to the 27 September.
It’s great to see the team out in force – here’s to a safe, sunny, and busy summer on our beautiful coastline!
