Buckingham Palace Garden Party

In summer, the Sovereign traditionally hosts three Garden Parties at Buckingham Palace, and one at the Palace of Holyrood House in Scotland. The parties are a way of recognising and rewarding public service, whilst giving the Royals a chance to mingle with people from all walks of life.

Throughout the country, a long-established network of sponsors is used to invite guests, who include Lord-Lieutenants, Societies and Associations, Government Departments, Local Government, the Services, the Church and other Faiths.

They nominate guests for invitation in the hope of achieving a representative cross section of the community.  It is a great honour to receive an invitation.

This year, Camber’s own Bill Perfitt received such an honour. Together with his wife, Debbie, Bill attended the first Garden Party on 6th May this year.

Bill told us,

“The invitation is for individuals who are put forward to recognise their service to community. I feel very honoured to have been put forward and only too pleased to accept such an honour. Thank you to whoever put me forward.”

Here at the newsletter, we would like to congratulate Bill and thank him for his tireless work within Camber community and with the Scouts over many years!
