Did you see it? When Mary came to Camber
Once again, Camber (and Rye) graced our TV screens on 18th December and again on Boxing Day in Dame Mary Berry’s Christmas special Mary Makes Christmas.

It’s amazing to know that CCN has reached its teens – the newsletter is 13 years old this month! It is hard to believe that I have been part of the team for 10 years of that time! A whole decade, dedicated to the Camber Community Newsletter!
Recently I had a childhood myth busted (at 71, can you believe!!). All these years of leaving a carrot out for Rudolph, only to discover last month that he can’t eat them.
Here at the newsletter, we find ourselves saying it again and again, but here goes… WOW, Camber, you did it again!!
This month, the newsletter took a trip to a ‘virtual’ Germany! Not quite the real country, but the Cinque Ports Arms in New Romney went German for a weekend at the beginning of October, hosting Oktoberfest.
Filming of Pressure took place on Camber Sands at the beginning of October. Locals watched on, as the extras were in full force as soldiers landing in Normandy.
On 9th September, 33 Camber residents set out for a day-trip to Deal in Kent. Passengers arrived at Deal to find the weather was not as bad as had been forecast. They were expecting rain but, luckily, it stayed dry all day.
Some may say, in mythological terms, that everything comes to a head at the point of a full moon – good or bad – and so we wonder if the final closing date for our local NISA shop falling on the same day as a full moon was, in fact, coincidence.
Twenty years ago, on Sunday 12th September, Camber residents awoke to find possibly the largest piece of “beach debris” they had ever seen on our shores! 1175 tons of cargo coaster – the Indian registered Maanav Star!
I must admit to being somewhat confused (though none of my friends will find that odd!) – about the various meals we enjoy each day.
