The last Meeting of Camber Parish Council was held on 21st October 2025 and was attended by Councillors Madeleine Spanswick (Chairman), Peter Atkinson, Trevor Atkinson, John Bradford, Rupert Cawte, Sean Clarke, Kirk Grant, County Councillor Keith Glazier OBE, District Councillor Paul Osborne.
Budget Setting Considerations

The draft budget will be considered by the Parish Councillors at the November meeting and in the lead up to that they are considering projects for which money to pay for these will be included in the budget.
Once the budget and precept are agreed then the precept request is submitted to Rother District Council so that they may collect this from our Council tax payments.
The projects agreed at the October meeting were for replacement IT devices for Councillors, a bench to be installed at the bus stop opposite Scotts Acre and a noticeboard for the Allotments at Yates Close.
Christmas Tree & Lights – Jubilee Green

Camber Parish Council has ordered the Christmas Tree to arrive on November 19th in readiness for the Christmas Fete which is being organised by the Camber Community Group.
Camber Parish Councillors and volunteers will meet the delivery of the 20-foot Normand Fir tree which has cost £295 + £15 delivery charge. Hopefully the weather is kind that day for the installation of the tree and decoration with string lights and baubles.
Last year’s storm and high winds which impacted the Christmas tree unfortunately left some of the light strings not working properly leaving some bulbs no longer lighting up and some of the strings not working at all.
They are sealed units and so it is not possible to change the bulbs to make a repair to them. At the Council meeting it was agreed to purchase suitable outdoor replacement string lights so that the tree is looking at its best ready for the tree lighting ceremony at 4pm on the day of the fete Saturday 22nd November.
Thank you to Madeleine and Peter from The Owl who have generously donated £100 towards the purchase of new Christmas tree lights. At the September Council meeting the Chairman Cllr. Madelaine Spanswick nominated that Mrs Pam Atkinson our recently retired post lady be invited to perform the tree lighting ceremony this year saying that she has given many years of dedicated and friendly service delivering the post and parcels and is an extremely popular person in the village.
Camber Parish Council would like to thank Pam Atkinson for all her past work in the village and are delighted that she has agreed to turn on the Christmas tree lights this year.
