During October there was speculation in the village, as to what happened to Frank Persad’s memorial bench. The bench, positioned at the top of Farm Lane near the western village gateway, disappeared in mid-October.
Don’t worry, it wasn’t stolen – it was taken away for repair.
Frankie’s son, Nick, contacted the the Camber Community Newsletter to tell us he had taken the bench away for maintenance. Part of Frankie’s daily routine would involve walking the cycle path, collecting litter and maintaining it where possible.
The bench was unveiled on the first anniversary of Frankie’s passing. Since then, then bench has been a popular spot with locals and visitors alike.
It is ideally positioned to take in the beautiful sunsets we have in Camber, or to enjoy the wonderful view across the marsh, and it’s a good place for weary walkers to take a rest.
Nick last took the bench away for a few extra coats of varnish back in Autumn 2023. He went on to say that he is going to give the bench another ‘spruce up’ and hopes to have it back its rightful place by early November.
