Another fabulous Prize Bingo Night was held at the end of January, in The Camber Castle pub. One of our usual callers, Ian, called the numbers. A veteran bingo caller, Ian kept the games moving along, interspersed with his dry wit and humour.
Players bravely faced the threat of Storm Eowyn and the room was full, creating a great mood and a fun evening full of banter and laughter. Well done, and thank you, to all those who braved the weather to come along!
There was a variety of interesting and fun prizes and, yes, some of them were unwanted Christmas presents that Camber residents had kindly donated to the cause! In place of the obligatory bottle of pink gin, we had a bottle of Scotch in a nod to Robbie Burns, along with a book of Burns’ poetry – Burns Night being only a couple of days away. There was plenty of tartan amongst the prizes, whether it was tartan wrapping or ribbons, or a Scottish theme to some of the prizes. The Camber Castle pub donated a bottle of Pimms and there were also games and toys, toiletries, wine and beer, household items, picture frames, jigsaws, gadgets, plants and gardening tools, craft kits, books, chocolates, sweets and biscuits, and the omnipresent Fruit Basket!
A fantastic £312 was raised for the Camber Community Newsletter! We would like to say a huge “Thank You” to Ian, to Pete and all the staff at The Castle, everyone who donated prizes, and to all the players!
