No, we are not talking about another episode of Dr Who being filmed at Camber…
After almost 6 years, Doctors have restarted appointments at The Surgery (behind Camber Memorial Hall)! It has been a long wait since the surgery closed at the start of lockdown in 2020, but they are definitely back in town. Great news!
We spoke with the Ferry Road Surgery in Rye and they confirmed that there will be a surgery in Camber on a fortnightly basis, on a Thursday morning between 9.30am and 10.30am.
There will be around 4 or 5 appointments – depending on the Doctor’s availability – and can be booked a week or two in advance. If no appointments are booked, the surgery will not run – there will be no walk-ins, so all appointments must be booked in advance.
We hope to have a full report from Ferry Road Surgery in our April edition but, for now, here are the March dates:
- Thursday 12th March: 9.30am to 10.30am
- Thursday 26th March: 9.30am to 10.30am
As with everything else in a rural community, we must ‘use it, or lose it’. When you next call up for an appointment, simply tell the receptionist that you would like to be seen in Camber and they will give you the current availability.
This is a major step forward for Camber and we hope it will not come under threat again. Obviously, we don’t want anyone to be unwell but, if you do find yourself needing to see a Doctor, please do use the facility.
Over the last 6 years, residents have got ‘out of the habit’, so to speak, of asking for a Camber appointment, so we must get back into the swing of it. After years of complaining about the lack of services here, we need to show both of the Rye surgeries how important it is that we retain these facilities going forward.
