Two Sussex beaches have been named among the UK’s best to visit during autumn.
Outdoor equipment suppliers Millets analysed beaches open year-round in the UK, examining autumn temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours, and Google review scores to reveal the best spots to visit outside of summer.
The ratings were based on data from October to December.
Two Sussex beaches made the list.
Camber Sands in East Sussex ranked in seventh place overall, with an average temperature of 9°C, and 4.5 average daily sunshine hours.
Camber Sands had Autumn rainfall of only 70mm, the second lowest of all the beaches in the top 10.
Combined with a Google review rating of 4.6, this gave Camber Sands a score of 7.92 out of 10
In joint seventh place, also with a score of 7.92 out of 10, was West Wittering beach in West Sussex.
This had an average temperature of 9.9°C, and 4.4 average daily sunshine hours. It had 111mm of rainfall, with a Google review rating of 4.6.
Sandsend Beach in North Yorkshire topped the list for an autumn visit, boasting mild weather, moderate rainfall, and the most daily sunshine hours through autumn.
It’s not the first time the merits of Camber Sands have been recognised, with the popular East Sussex beach previously being named among the UK’s best for stargazing, for dog walking, and for winter visits.
