Our village Christmas Fayre was another superb community event! Well done, Camber!
The Christmas Fayre was quite the event again this year, with over a dozen traders offering local and home-made goods alongside the many traditional Christmas games and treats provided by the Camber Community Group. The generosity of villagers and local businesses, in the run up to Christmas, has been overwhelming!

Throughout the day, we heard chitter-chatter, laughter, and well-wishing as people met up with old friends, and made some new ones. It was great to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they soaked up the magic of Christmas. It is always wonderful when our village comes together!
We were very lucky that Father Christmas managed to fit in a visit during his busiest time of year. Lots of families popped in to see him as he gave out wonderful presents to all the children.

There were numerous games and activities, including the old favourites – raffle, pick-a-ticket, guess the number of sweets in the jar, a kid’s craft table, lucky dip, £1 shop, adopt a teddy, treasure chest, refreshments, mulled wine and sloe gin – as well as a number of stallholders selling their wares. We even had a fresh fish stall outside selling scallops and crab claws! In total, a whopping £790 was raised! Thank you to everyone who contributed to that!
We would like to thank the following for their very generous contributions to our raffle prize table:
Rye Bay Bar & Grill. Camber Residents Association, Camber Active Friends, Sea Dreams Holiday Homes, BJs on the Beach, Rye Players, and Patrick’s Toys, along with all the residents who also donated prizes.
Camber Community group is grateful to everyone who has played a part, from the pre-planning stage, to helping to decorate the hall, to running the stalls, and clearing up afterwards.
As one of the helpers said: “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
We would like to thank St Thomas the Apostle Church for lending us some tables and some parking spaces!
A special mention must also go to Ian Smith for providing us all with great music, commentary, and entertainment all afternoon! We hope that you enjoyed it all!
