For some years, Camber residents have been unhappy with the eyesore in the centre of the village which is the Old Garage Site. Camber Parish Council has been fighting on behalf of residents to get an official Order placed on the site owner to tidy it up. Eventually, Rother DC issued the Order and has now enforced it.
We reported, in this newsletter, that clearance work had begun on 16th May. We suggested that it would be a long and arduous task, but then the work seemed to stop for a couple of months! Thankfully, the clearing continued in August and the jungle of brambles and nettles, along with many years’ worth of dumped rubbish, is now looking like ancient history!
Whilst not exactly ‘pretty’ yet, it certainly looks like something is happening – it no longer looks like a piece of abandoned and neglected wasteland. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
