Last month, we printed a write up of the Rye Players magnificent panto that took place in December. (Oh, yes, we did!!) There were so many good things to say about it, that we had to cut our piece down, just to fit it onto one page! Sadly, this meant that we were not able to mention everybody who worked so hard on the performance. We also had to reduce the number of pictures we treated you all to!
Unfortunately, to save space, we were not able to leave in all of the names of those who deserved a mention – that is… everybody involved! Similarly, we were not able to rave more about the zany costumes and hair-do’s, but we hoped the pictures would tell that part of the story. Regrettably, we could not put in all the pictures that we wanted, so here are a few more of them.
In our (admittedly quite brutal) edit of the original rambling write up, we cut out a mention of the music – an essential part of all pantomimes – which was all played live on the piano by the talented Martin Bruce (aka The Rye Shanty Man) and accompanied by the very talented Ms Marrs on the saxophone. Between them, they thrilled the audience – and there were no ‘soundtrack’ hiccups!
We also took out a tip-of-the-hat to the set designers and builders who must have been an ambitious bunch because the set was HUGE and quite elaborate! Furthermore, the lighting team, and special effects, and stagehands who kept everything moving along just nicely, were omitted. We’re so very sorry!
We also failed to mention that Rye Players made a fantastic donation to Rye Community Transport of £600 from their ticket sales (over 800 tickets in all) helping to keep this vital service running. Well done!
One final apology – which was not part of the edit, but an error on our part – we would like to thank KT Bruce for the pictures that were given to us to use. Kt has allowed us to use many pictures over the years, including these. We are sorry that we could not use all of our choices in last month’s edition, and we are very sorry that the pictures that we did use were not credited correctly.
