Roving Christmas Tree

The Christmas tree that featured in the Church for our Carol Service on 22nd December arrived in Camber after a bit of a journey.

In late November Yvonne, our visiting vicar, heard of an event being put together by St Mary’s in Rye. The intention was to encourage as many groups as possible to enter their own version of a Christmas tree and these were to be displayed in the Church from 1st to 20th December.

Yvonne, once again, called on the inventive group who created such a stunning seaside floral display for the Flower Show held on the August bank holiday. The brief was to create something that reflected Camber’s environment with an emphasis on the beach. As before, Jo and Anne surpassed all expectations and created both the tree and its decorations using local flora and decorations created from the bounty our sea deposits on our beach each day.

The next request was to re-house the tree in our local St Thomas the Apostle church – and so on the 20th December, Jo and Anne planned and executed the logistics needed to pack and move the tree from Rye to Camber in time for the service on 22nd.

Well done ladies – once again, you have done Camber proud!
