Everyone, of all ages, is invited to a free community celebration of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, which marked the end of the war in Europe and WWII, on Bank Holiday Monday, 5th May 2025.
The government says: “We encourage those with country parks and streets that can be closed, along with those that have gardens, to hold street and garden parties decked in flags and bunting, dressing up in fancy dress or uniform, along with those communities that have town, village and community halls, etc., to organise VE Day 80 parties within them, decorating them in a similar fun way.
Camber will hold a community picnic at Jubilee Green on 5th May 2025, from 12 noon to 5pm. The event is still in planning but, for now, there will be live music, games and tea/coffee available. We would love to include historical information about how Camber was affected 80 years ago, so if you have photos, artifacts or a story, we would love to hear from you. You can contact any of the team (you know who we are) or email cambernews@hotmail.co.uk. Watch this space for more details.
