Camber Speedwatch Group News – March 2025

This month the team has been very busy elsewhere, however, for the few sessions carried out in Camber, the figures are shown in the red box.

We are pleased to welcome more volunteers to the team and thank them for giving their time to make Camber a safer place.

Did you know?
The risk of death is approximately four times higher when a pedestrian is hit at 40mph than at 30mph.
The biggest killer of young people across Europe is road traffic deaths. Speeding is the most prevalent cause of collisions in this age category.

The human body has a very limited ability to withstand violent crash forces. So we need to do more to reduce crash forces to survivable levels.

Stats show that the average cost of a fatal collision from impact to closing of inquest is £2,000,000. There are almost 1,800 fatalities on UK roads a year = £3.6 billion to the British state and tax payers.

Community Speedwatch isn’t just about catching speeding vehicles; it’s about taking an interest in everyone’s safety. We care about dog walkers, cyclists, riders, parents with prams, and other motorists, because we’re a community.

Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a national initiative, in partnership with the police.

Since Speedwatch carried out its first session on 25th October we have reported:
540
vehicles for exceeding the 30mph limit
12
of those vehicles did not have a valid MOT
9
of those vehicles were not Taxed
3
were on SORN
