Sadly, we reported in December of the closure of Camber Residents Association. However, they went out in style! On 8th December, a coach-load of Camber residents set out for a day-trip to Canterbury to visit the European-style Christmas market there.
Passengers arrived in Canterbury to find the weather was not as bad as had been forecast. They were expecting rain but, luckily, it stayed dry for most of the day. The skies only opened in the last half an hour before the coach picked them up at 3.30pm.
Arriving at 11.30am, there was time to get your bearings, go for a spot of lunch and then a leisurely wander around the market and the many shops that Canterbury has to offer. Everyone had the chance to explore the historic city, famed for its iconic cathedral – probably the most famous in all of England. This time, Canterbury’s Christmas market had been expanded.
There were three main sections – one in the High Street, another in the shopping precinct and an extra one in the grounds of the cathedral. Judging by the smiles on everyone’s faces on their return to Camber – a good time was had by all! Well done to the CRA!
The day out was organised by Camber Residents Association, who have been running day-trips twice a year for over two decades. The costs have traditionally been subsidised by the fundraising efforts of the group and have been open to everyone in the village at a reduced ticket price.
