Flippin’ Great Time Had By All

Late in January, it became apparent that no plans had been made to celebrate Shrove Tuesday in the village. At a request from the CCG, the Camber Community Lunch Group (aka The Lunch Bunch!) stepped up and laid on a celebration in the Memorial Hall.

It was a resounding success – our “Pancake Princess” Pat arrived with 100 pancakes cooked in advance, ready for heating – and then, such was the demand, went on to cook over 50 more on the day, plus Hayley supplied us with 20 gluten free versions – so everyone was catered for. She also arranged a selection of toys to entertain our younger guests.

There was a delicious selection of toppings – the standard sugar and fresh lemon juice, as well as strawberry jam, Nutella, squirty cream, blueberries and bananas. Everyone came back for seconds so, all in all, we served up over 170 on the day!

Note: the picture and caption to the right was on a Pancake Day card given to the lunch bunch by one of our local residents!
