Camber Residents Association to close its doors

We are sad to announce that Camber is to lose another of its stalwart groups

We are sad to announce that Camber is to lose another of its stalwart groups – the Camber Residents Association.

Formally registered in 2002, the group was open to all Camber residents and tenants, with the aim of representing their views and interests with the Camber Parish Council and other local authorities, as well as to encourage a community spirit through the organisation of social events and other activities.

Although much of the representation with local authorities has since been replaced by alternative methods, the group has continued to sponsor and arrange thoroughly enjoyable day coach trips throughout the year and as well as the annual 4-day Turkey and Tinsel trip.

While the Association itself will be disbanded, the members have elected to remain as an informal social club and continue holding get togethers. These will be held at 12:00 until 14:00 on the second Monday of the winter months (September to April) in the Camber Castle.

Open to all Camber residents and second home owners, attendees will be asked to kindly bring a plate of snacks for all to share. Decisions as to what other activities should be arranged for the rest of the year (raffles, day trips, etc) will be discussed and agreed by all, with the allocation of voluntary roles and responsibilities for the arrangements of these events.

Th CRA would like to sincerely thank Trish Lock (Chairperson), Jackie Butcher (Vice-Chairperson), Jean Murray (Secretary) and Elaine Longhurst (Treasurer) for their valued contributions to the running of the Association to date, as well as all the previous office holders across the 23 years of activity.

Initial dates for 2026 meetings are: 12th January / 16th February / 9th March / 13th April.

CCN’s note: How sad to see the closure of another of Camber’s groups. We have much to thank CRA for, over the years – from organising many entertaining summer fetes to raising the funds to pay for the installation of the new play park on Jubilee Green, back in 2004!
